The 59 Café, located at the end of alley 59 Hai Phong Street (Hai Chau District, Da Nang City ), was conceived by architect Le Trong Vu (42 years old), to be renovated from a simple three-storey house, built for 3 years. months to “change clothes” into a one-of-a-kind space.
The current cafe has a modern architectural style, using concrete colors, accompanied by iron and raw bricks. The front window is also carved to create a more airy space.
The old house has an area of 150 m2 per floor. In 2020, this place is located in a blockade area when Da Nang is the epicenter of the Covid-19 epidemic.
Architect Vu said that it was then that he came up with the idea of renovating the house that was left deserted so that the trees could grow less deserted. Mr. Vu and the design team demolished the wall behind the house to take advantage of the view that the building of Cao Dai Mission Church has open space and beautiful architecture located right behind. This is also an area that attracts customers to sit and work every time they visit the shop.
The space on the first floor of the restaurant with areas separated by rustic walls and decorated with pictures, books, and old cameras are the previous items of the house.
The stairs, cement bricks, and washed stone walls on the 2nd floor are also retained to recreate the ancient features of the house, which was built in 1972.
Washed stone walls are also preserved. This type of wall is typical in the architecture built in Da Nang in the 70s and 80s of the last century.
The shop also has spaces suitable for group work on the 2nd floor, on the background of soft young music.
To free up the view on the 3rd floor, the architect had to knock down a wall bordering the Cao Dai Temple behind.
Another highlight is the green space on the terrace of the restaurant. At night, lights from recycled bottles also add beauty to this space.

The large courtyard is paved with shady trees. In the areas where the railings were previously designed, the design team removed and replaced them with iron bars for green trees to grow, creating spatial linkages and creating impressions for guests.
In the evening, the shop is more sparkling with areas decorated with gentle lights. The large yard with large trees that are decades old creates more attraction for the shop in the small alley.
The shop is open from 7am to 10pm, drinks are diverse with prices from 15,000 to 45,000 VND.
